Anyone has an idea what is going on here?
-
Goggomobil Coupe (aka TS250 aka Mayfair in the UK) that has been cut down into a cabrio and otherwise customized.
Normally it has a big non-functional grille at the front. You can still see the flat spot where it was originally.
Otherwise I have no idea what is going on there.

a Goggo transformed to a "tribute" to a Mercedes Benz?
:-\
here is the original, can you spot the differences?
-
its just a mercedes decal over a soft top Goggo coupe. ;D
-
I wasn't aware of the Mercedes Benz 300 SLR tribute. How on earth did you discover that? Respect!
This Goggo was displayed at the 2011 Goodwood Revival. The bodywork was covered in the stick-upon livery as shown in the photograph. I have not previously come across this kind of disguise.
A matter of taste - innit?
-
hmmm apart from 722 in what way is it similar ? the colour - no. the aero screens - no . the low cut down doors - no . the 3 keys ? on the grill - no. as a tribute i get the point but pretty rubbish result really for all the work .

Didn't Moss race a Goggo once?
-
dunno - who won ;D

I was heading to Glastonbury in my van about 12 years ago along a country A road quite near the Haynes museum. I noticed a thunderous noise approaching behind me and I soon saw the Haynes SLR in my mirrors. I figured that there was no time for him to overtake before the next tight corner, but I was wrong, he was past me long before the corner and the noise was literally awesome, absolutely incredible.
A few years later I was walking up Exhibition Road towards the entrance of the Science Museum and heard what I thought was the sound of about 100 Hardly Ableson bikes, but it was an SLR, possibly Pink Floyd's drummer/racer Nick Mason at the helm.
Racing cars do not appeal much to me, but those SLRs are mighty impressive. Much as I like Goggomobils I don't think they are the ideal starting point for an SLR tribute! I can only hope that its creator's tongue was very firmly in his or her cheek!

Got to admit my first thought was it was Peugeot 403 cabriolet, some kind of Columbo tribute!
-
That's more like it!
-
That's more like it!
agreed, and there is more "mystery" to it as well.
I vote to change it to a Columbo Tribute Car

I was always pleasantly surprised at the choice of a Peugeot for Columbo, I suppose to make him seem even more eccentric.
Peugeot were highly regarded as very solid and reliable in those days, and widely seen even in the toughest parts of the world, yet my business partner in USA says that they had an awful reputation there and were virtually chased out of town!
