Shame there is no such thing as a 1955 Cabriolet. Looks nice though.
-
Ooh pots and kettles ;) ;D
-
I see a number of unfinished bits on there.
No insulation on top of muffler
No cover for the Black Box...
No hubcaps
what parts not seen are unfinished?
-
The dome!

Jim I don't think we had the cork cover on the exhaust in the uk.
-
it wasn't cork, it was asbestos.

Indeed it was, and is. It was to protect the spare tyre on the wheel tucked up in the boot there. I like having mine fitted as its a H&S raspberry. Many cars no longer have any form of insulation in place on the top of the silencer. Fine if you have no spare wheel or you do not drive the car much, but its not original.
'Attention - Stuart to check Messerschmitt number for year and call in please'
If its a 1955, its a sad restoration of what could be a very much more interesting car with early parts on. The nose is early but really what else looks early that is not screwed on or missing? Its the sort of British restoration the rest of the world is not looking for, I fear. Then again it might be the right price for some nutter to drive round the UK and be very happy. It is what it is, but is it priced as that.

I've driven my cars thousands of miles without one of those, much of it on the original from new exhaust. Still to damage a tyre.

Yep, me too!

I have singed one belting down the autobahns. Wiff bot major.
Eventually you get an area that cracks up and the tyre cannot really be trusted. If you keep changing wheels, tyres etc then not a great prob but back in the day of proper Schmitty tyres and high mileages on any old fuel and oil it was probably worth while.
