Hi All, I was sent this from my Brother. Seen on BBC TV. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7672617.stm ;D
-
Bang! Goes the cheap lots then, notice how they didn't mention how crap the Bamby is.
-
Yes, coverage like that is bad news , still I think in the present economic climate there may still be some cheap lots. Let face it , the stock isn't exactly up to the Wiener sale standard!
-
Hope that W.... doesn't get them all !!! >:( >:( >:(
-
Hmmm, and so sad there are no Peel for sale on the auction! :-\
-
I've placed a commission bid via the auctioneer's website, so for me it's now a waiting game for what I hope will be one of the less popular lots. It would be nice to be there. Anyone here going?

You want a Peel for sale?
I have heard there is someone selling a Trident through RM Auctions in the UK
I have no link or other info as you apparently have to be signed up with them to get a catalog.
Don't know when it is/was set to be auctioned off.
The Auction company was sending out emails trying to find a "value" for it.
This could be old news by now.
-
This may put the prices up a bit, but that is good news for the Bubble car museum, and long may it thrive!

News to me...
Only UK auction RM wise is in a couple of weeks

No Peel in that lot. Although Stuart might fancy the '77 Allegro (British Leyland mechanically propelled excreta at its finest hour). Goes by the name of "All Ego".
Nice!
-
Hi Everyone
If anyone went to the auction please can they list the selling prices that they know.
Thanks
John ;)
-
Looks like you can still buy micros at reasonable prices. ;D

Bob bids a final farewell to an old acquaintance before it disappears into obscurity.

I look a bit fertive in this pic dont I , as if I'm going to nick it!

The prices achieved are as follows and are all plus 15% buyers premium and vat at 17.5% on the premium. I wont list the lot numbers but if you have a catalogue I am listing them in the order in which they appear in it.

Sad, they are gone now. I was very interested in the Sharps or the Bond MK2 :'( :'(
Cheers

I think the Bond mkB sold to a Japanise guy living in London.

I got the KV. Unless there's an astonishingly clandestine group of enthusiasts somewhere, I assume this gives me the world's largest collection: two. Actually, I suspect I was already tied for the world's largest collection at one. The price suggests that at least one other person was bidding-- I'd be delighted to discuss KV lore if it was anyone reading this.

Just found out, not less than 8 cars are going to Thailand, as, there is another microcar museum.
Folks, we should keep our cars in our hands !!!!

What do you mean "our" hands? You are in Germany, the auction was in the UK.
You want to control what someone else in another country does with their property?
If so, you should have spoken with the folks at the Bubblecar Museum and convinced them not to allow bidders outside of whatever list of "accepted" persons or countries you have on a list someplace.
-
yes it would be quite easy for us to say how wrong it is that you have 2 peels in germany, but we dont.
-
Sorry Jim, you got me wrong. i meant it is sad a microcar museum is canceled. Doesn't matter what country it is.
I do apologize for the misunderstanding.
Ferdi

Hmm, and how many Messerschmitts for example are within the Uk???
Seems im not welcome on this forum anymore !!!
No Problem at all. I'll be quiet.
All the best,
-
Come on Jim & Daniel, that attack was a bit uncalled for to my mind. I can see full well what Ferdi meant, & it wasn't that!
On other subjects, Artura seems to be popping up more & more often. He's bought no less than five invalid carriages in the past three months & I strongly suspect he bagged a sixth that day. There's no point in being all King Canute about it, in a free market, the cars will end up where they will. In the case of conveyances, if they have to go overseas to be safe (and belive me, they are still not yet so in the UK) then I'll carry them to the docks myself whatever my personal opnions on them going.
End of arguement. Ferdi, get yourself back here pronto.....
-
Why is there all this bickering on this forum? What does it matter in which country the cars are or going to, at least they should be looked after. After all as with most objects of desire in this world the human race is only the custodian of the objects in their lifetime. Yes Ferdi, stay on the forum, after all you were the Peel man on the pages of Rumcar News for years. Rob.D. ;D
-
I agree with Ferdi.
It's a shame when cars are sold for export. It means the chance of them being at UK shows is gone. If all cars go then what?
What cars will new blood aquire if they're all exported?
Whilst the lions share of Peels are still UK ceded I'm happier knowing they're going nowhere. I'm also content in knowing I actually brought a Trident back to UK shores.
Free market and all that but how can anyone (save the owner) be happy knowing these things are exported?
-
This one has always been an emotive topic and we will probably never all agree on it , I think Jim completely misread Ferdi's comment and even if he didn't Ferdi is quite at liberty to express his opinion. I've always found that an apology pours oil on troubled waters.
-
Hi Bob
Thanks for the great work representing us there and listing everything.
No real bargaind as far as I can see.
I was quite interested to see how yhe Prinz's did, ( quite like them)
As far as all this carp ( I am a bit dislexkik) about things being bought to go abroad, there are probably more people in the U.K who keep going to Europe etc and buying cars than the other way arond anyway.
It's a global market now as everyone keeps saying.
John
;D
-
Hi John. I think NSU's are still very underpriced, I drove a prinz 600 saloon a while back and was very impressed.
-
the way it was written to me implied that it was wrong that the cars were going to thailand.sorry if i misread it.hardly an attack tho.
a lot of messerschmitts in this country were imported here new.
thats not the same with peels.
-
a lot of messerschmitts in this country were imported here new.

When you think about it, it is just the same actully. When I was on the island, it was quite noticeble that most Manx-born folk took great troubles to point out that they were not English, they were Manx By that same dint, Peels are not English. Peels are Manx. To have came to England, they had to be exported from the Isle of Man.
In fact, if you look at the satistics, all bar one single solitiry Peel left the Island via England. Only roughly a third(?) or so of the total sum of Messerschmitts came here. Therefore the figures state that a far greater proportion of Peels were exported here new than Messerschmitts.
We could argue about Peels & exporting all day long (& often do on this forum) but in the end it's just like arguing about religion. It's all things to all people & all the arguements can be twisted this way, that way & coming back on itself depending what point we want to prove at any particular time.
Think about it.... ;)
-
My angle is thus. All cars are exported, sold or whatever new. Fine. KR's came to the UK etc etc. I heard that you were slung out the Schmitt club in the 70's if you sold to a German (urban myth?) . So it's been an emotive issue..
Peels were only sold on the IoM and GB. Bar a few that escaped. USA,Canada for evaluation etc...
It's a shame however to see them exported after residing here for so long. Now that Peels are very good news I fear should a Peel be marketed on the world stage it will probably go abroad. I say "probably". The good thing is there's all but zero supply of Peels. Owners generally like them more than their value.
Now it's common knowledge that most Manx Peels were plundered since the 60's. I was talking to a bloke who works in Douglas in my line of work. I mentioned how I liked the island etc. And my enthusiasm for the micros. He said he was well aware of the micros. But they had ALL GONE. He wasn't best pleased. It's a shame. Like the rainforests are dissapearing etc. No-one does anything and shrugs their shoulders.
It's a freetrading world. Sell to who you like. But it's in my opinion a shame.

Hi Guys
Has anybody discovered if the car museum in Tie Land has a web site?
When I win the lottery and go on my around the world trip it would be well worth a visit, if it exists.
There are so many excellent car museums in the world and it is good to see old vehicles, that you normally only get to see in books, in the flesh. Yes it would be even better to drive them. But seeing them in a collection is definitely better than having them hidden away by Eccentric collectors. ( does that sound familiar)

http://www.artura.de/pageID_979051.html This link takes you to the museum, click right (weiter), to show the extent of the collection, though it isn't limited to just micros as can be seen in these clips:

Ooh look, a Mini-Comtesse on the second-from-last page! :)
-
How do you find these clips etc. Mike? A few years ago I saw a Pathe News video showing an Earls Court motorcycle show circa 1954/55. It showed an NSU Quickly moped, Vincent motorcycle and a GORDON threewheeler being driven down an unmade bumpy road. Can't seem to find it anywhere now. Rob.D.
-
Dear Blob
Thank you for finding the two amazing video clips of the microcars in the Jesada Technik Museum. They seem to have more microcars than I could find in all the French Museums I visited this summer. Looks like it is well worth a visit on a world trip.
I was not able to determine the link between the Video clips and the web site as the web site was in German and seemed to show a German collection. Having said that one or two of the vehicles look to be in the Video clips.
Has anybody been to the Jesada Technic Museum?
Chris Thomas
-
Hi Chris, the German website's Artur Bohnerts and the images are from the museum in Thailand. Rob really it's luck, I've found most of the footage from motor shows but I'm still looking for any Gordon ones, on the Pathe site footage is never under the term microcar, I just search for obscure things like 'Frankfurt' or 'Paris traffic' and then only look at clips that are from the 50's.
-
Dear Blob
If I remember correctly Artur Bohnerts is the man showing the oriental presenter (young femail interest to generate contrast between old and new, oriental and european) around the museum. So does he own the museum and who is he?
Can anybody tell me as I am thick ( unable to read German)?
-
Hi
More info on the museum
The phelang speaks good Thai :-

Just found out, not less than 8 cars are going to Thailand, as, there is another microcar museum.
Folks, we should keep our cars in our hands !!!!
There would seem to have been a number of your who were lucky enough to get to the Auction, could anyone help with information as to the new owners of the more unusual cars. It would be nice to be able to make contact with them and bring them into the fold. Three of the vehicles Lot 1 Bamby, Lot 23 Nobel and Lot 30 are already on the Register so obviously I am extremely interested to know their new owners. If you managed to acquire anything unusual from there please make contact. Jean

Artur Bohnert bought 4 vehicles via his German ebay a/c in my first http://BuyVintage.co.uk auction in March 2008.
Despite several letters saying he would come and collect and pay he never turned up and in the end we had to give up and resell them.
I think 'Artur Bohnert' is actually from Thailand and using this German name.
Hello
I will move the car to Germany, and then move to microcar museum in Thailand. Now we have about 200 micro cars. But now I am in Thailand. I will fly to Germany in next 2 weeks. Then I will go to see you for collect the car.
Now we suucess with e-bay, so you shoudn't sell to someone else. And I already order container for shipping to Thailand.
Anyway could you please give me your address and number telephone to me? I would like give money cash. I hope you understand me. In Thailand, we don't have this car. We would like to show English micro car. Please help me..
