eBay had made the copy/paste from the search bar a bit of a mess lately. I don't know why.
I will tell you what I do to "clean up" the links.
Every eBay item has an Item Number and it is always has ONLY numbers in it, no letters.
If you are at an item you want to link to, look for the "item number" on the right side with the seller information.
Copy this number and paste it into the SEARCH box for eBay, hit GO.
You will be directed to the same page but now there is a slightly different URL at the top of the screen.
What you want is everything from the left side up to and INCLUDING that Item Number.
For example; the item number for this listing is: 110664334899
Paste that into the search box on eBay and hit GO
You get this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110664334899&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm570%26_nkw%3D110664334899%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1#ht_500wt_1156
Still a mess, but you can truncate EVERYTHING that is there that appears AFTER the item number.
Doing so leaves you with this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110664334899
