Title: KR 175
Post by: Peelpower on April 19, 2011, 12:50:28 pm
Just spotted a real bargain on ebay.de.

http://cgi.ebay.de/Messerschmitt-KR-175-Cabrio-Restaurierungsobjekt-Oldie-/220772070268?pt=Automobile&hash=item33670a737c

You should be sober enough to recognize its a Messerschmitt KR 175

The problem is the base vehicles coming up are in the main very rough or trashed by modification but owners want high prices for them. If you work out that to restore them is harder than a KR200 and some parts are hard to find yet the end product is worth a deal less than a KR200 then quickly it is clear most of the examples on offer are way over their economic value. I to want a running KR175 and I have one and a bit. I would like to get another so I can create a really good one and a project which could also be restored by myself or someone else. However it has to make sense financially especially as owning KR200s the 175 will get minimal use as they are a lot more effort to drive and not as comfortable. As a collector and enthusiast how can I not have one. I am just trading some stuff for more spares now including a reversing box.

I wouldn't mind a TG or Peel like that!

It can be done and I have both. Hell of a lot of work to be done though! Will it ever get to happen and become a drivable entity. It is still simpler to get the whole example if you can afford it!
