Title: first 50 cc engines ?

further to Stuarts reply , on another topic , i wondered just when the first commercially available 50cc engine became available . surely this must have been a post war two stroke ? what was it ?

They were in fact from WWII, not after.

Dont have any names in my head now, but if I find some I'll link you.

been online and come up with WWII cushman paratroop bikes but cannot find the c.c. rating .would that be the one ? hondas from 1952 i think

Seems to be 50cc by the pics, but hard to tell.

There were 50cc and 98cc cyclemotors before ww2, Sach being one.

have only found 98cc ,74cc and 60cc pre-war sachs engines . not being picky but i did just wonder how and why a law was made exempting the need for a 50cc device to not require a speedo - why would they pass such a measure and for which particular machine
