why is it that Bond 875@s are so cheap - by any RATIONAL argument they are better than nearly all others , certainly from the U.K.

Have you ever driven one? Despite the de tuned Husky engine it is vastly overpowered. The steering is, err, clever but not inspiringly well mounted. Add that the engine is in the back and the design needed to be light but never went in a wind tunnel and you end up with potentially the hairiest ride offered as a production car after the war! Only the brave or the rationally sensible right footed drivers need apply. I raise you Mick Stacy. I agree though, they are marked out for their valuelessness but do deserve some love and attention. But then Equipes are almost as routinely worth next to naff all despite being far more interesting than a standard Herald OWHY. The name Bond seems to act negatively in the opposite way to BMW enhancing the more common Isettas over the rarities. Some names just seem blighted by a national memory which my, or may not, be deserved and vice versa.
