Title: Something odd in Italy
Post by: blob on February 04, 2012, 01:17:35 pm
What the hell is this? http://annunci.ebay.it/annunci/auto/roma-annunci-roma/microvettura-electrolette-ibrida-epoca/20208079

There's a link that looks like it was taken at that Italian microcar exhibition a while back, at the bottom of the page, where there's mention of a 175 Villiers, though I thought this things electric!

in the text on this link: http://newmediologo.wordpress.com/2008/05/15/electrolette-la-prima-vettura-ibrida-1941/  shown at the bottom of the action page,

Translated is says: L' Electrolette was without doubt the first hybrid car ever produced..  It does part of the category "Bubblecar", the micro-automobiles planned and produced in the years on horseback between the second world war and the years' 50.  The Electrolette had on board is a small motorcycle internal combustion engine of origin, a two times, four rotten before, Villiers 175 cc more an electric moped from 1.2 HP, 12 volt, with a' autonomy of 50 km and for a greatest speed of 35 km/h.  The small electrician served, run and run back historical, to reduce the petrol consumptions in a period in which the war make be lacking the supplies.  The two engines did not work however together like in the car present ibirde; the internal combustion engine had alone the rotten before while that electrician is occupied some reverse and had alone a gear in before.  L' exemplary dell' forerunner of the Prius, chassis number 114, French license plate 036 ZA5 strictly painted to hand was found in an attic to the Italian.

So at least it's not as useless as first thought!  ;D

How is it that the Italians make something like this look sexy when up in the cold north it would probably look like a brick covered with a mangled pig. A little popsy.

The car was found by Francy, who is also on this forum at times.
While it came with both an electric and a Villiers engine, it has neither at this time.
Francy likes to think of it as the original "hybrid" car.
Also- I think it is a French vehicle.

I love the styling, it's really beautiful, or to be precise (©Thomson and Thompson/Tintin) it's like a really beautiful cartoon or caricature of a very pretty car!
The front is a bit like the 50s Renault 4s, the back is like a Morris Minor or DKW 1000 Sonderklasse, and overall it looks a bit like Rovin and Mochet.
