Title: Reliant book Volume 2, the grand announcement
Post by: Stuart Cyphus on March 01, 2012, 08:34:08 pm
…and here is the first sneak preview of Volume 2 as the cover artwork was received back a few days ago. We’re still waiting for the official print date, but if things run true to form as they did with vol 1, we still think 1st April is the date to watch.

So, what’s inside volume two? Loads of words & loads of pics as you would expect. No doubt some will be keen to point out that 2012 is 30 years since the launch of the Reliant Rialto. Fret ye not, the Rialto gets plenty of coverage (10 pages & 15 pictures) as of course does the original Robin (18 pages & 30 pictures, including the earliest known existing photo of a Robin).  :o

Over the years Reliant buffs have often pondered what exactly happened before, during & after the Jonathan Heynes era of 1996-1999, perhaps the most important name in the whole Reliant saga after Tom Williams, Ray Wiggin & Tom Karen. Having saved the factory from oblivion after the third bankruptcy, what were the true & full details behind the purchase? Who was involved & why? How did the Reliant Motor Company come to be “sold twice” at this time? Who really signed the death warrant on the Two Gates plant & why? What was the six-figure court case battle which could not be aired on the 1997 “Trouble at the Top” TV programme? And above all, why did Heynes depart the company in 1999?  For the very first time, all these questions, and more besides, are answered in full with a world-exclusive 14-page chapter penned by Jonathan Heynes himself.   :o

So, get set for the most eagerly awaited Reliant book of the decade as Elvis & I lay bare the three-wheeler story never before told, from 1973-2002, from Zenith to ashes, from Tamworth to Sudbury, from Robin to, errr, Robin and Robin again….    8)

You seem to have as much enthusiasm talking about Reliants than I have with Nobels... I feel sorry for you too, I know how it feels ;)

A Reliant crossed with a Nobel would be Rebel. Hmm, that does not work leaving us with a Nobby Ant. Closer. Maybe go to other sources and have a Ram KIng Fulliant. So many to choose from and hours of fun.
