i believe these are correct for the nobel - goggo agrees . other thoughts please ?

correcting this many months later but these lenses are PMG not Miller - no idea why i was confused at the time - just in case anyone is confused looking back at this sometime ;)

I thought Nobels had LPG lenses?
-
there seem to be as many opinions as there are surviving cars . owners all seem to think theirs correct and they all seem to be different - which are LPG ?
-
Nope, there wrong.
I used to think they had Lucas glass lights, then I realised they were flat. I attached a pic of the right ones and an original pic for comparison. I can't guarantee they didn't change during the years!
These are correct:

Nobels had both PMG or Lucas, Richard yours are later, the correct lenses have a checkered reflector instead of the circles, but otherwise are the same. For a while I thought PMG were a myth until I saw a factory photo with them installed.

well thats 3 opinions so far :) but guess you should be right

Not sure about PMG, maybe the ones I posted, but these are the Lucas ones (red on rear, orange on front for certain models, others had white, and others had none!)

Having had quite a few Nobels it seems likely they changed lighting suppliers several times. In what order I cannot tell but there is no doubt at one point they fitted conical plastic rear lights. I recall these had a set of concentric rings inside the body of the light with a reflector but a smooth exterior, from memory. I am not sure if I have pics of the totally original Nob I had and drove but they were fitted to that one. It also had correct front lights to match that style. I think they were a Miller unit. They are pretty rare, stick out to get damaged and were quite brittle plastic. The loss of these units will be why many Nobs gained other lighting.
Did they have Lucas or the very similar PMG or is it LPG version of that type of light? Since these light are less prominent and tougher they survive better. More modern patterns of the design remain available unlike the conical units.
Bit vague but might help.

The flat type Jonathan pictures are very Fuldamobil, the bottom pic seems to be of an early car, so I guess it still followed the Fulda regime.

thanks al . add it to the melting pot . jonathan you showed a pic of fulda/nobel with flat lenses then attached a link showing the protruding lucas type :-\

Read my previous message:
"I used to think they had Lucas glass lights, then I realised they were flat"
And Blob said they had Lucas, so they must be the ones.

Well I would happily fit Richard's lights to a Nob and the telling thing is if the old backplates of that conical light fit the lens, which is a fair chance as they look very close to me. Buyer beware I think.
-
agreed - if the car lights changed and you dont have the right inners there not much help are they :)
-
not the pics i posted at the beginning of this topic but .....
Found at Beaulieu this weekend two pairs rear PMG lights as fitted to both NOBEL and NOBEL VICKY these ones do have the chequered reflector centre, these do have the reflective chrome back plates mounting screws etc. and i think look much nicer than the the Lucas ones now so commonly fitted - subject to a bit of fettlin ;) both pairs will be available probably via our friend E. Bay

Very much more characterful as well as suiting the style of the car better. I like them, but I do not have a Nobel any more. What no Unimog headlights to go with them?
-
Looked everywhere al you must have got the last ones ;)
