I did a search on the system but can only find UK to USA shipping.
Do any of you have knowledge of shipping a car from USA to Uk? What are the HM Customs rules on age of car you can ship without paying import duty? Also any good shipping companies out there?
-
I am about to ship from UK to the USA, as I live in the Los Angeles area.
Where exactly are you looking to ship from?
I encountered better rates out bound than in bound to the Port of
Los Angeles when I last shipped a few Fiero GTs to Germany some 20 years ago.
I will help you if needed.

Hi Steve, sent you a mail.
-
Jim Janacek lives in Chicago, which is roughly in the middle of your 2 car's locales.
He suggests getting a freight forwarder from the Chicago area, as there is a good port there, but letting them ship out from whatever port they choose.
He says that he has heard good results attributed to www. hipage.com.
If you have further questions you'd have them better handled by someone in the Chicago area. I'm in the Los Angeles area which is about 1800 miles further west.

that is not what I said, but it will have to do I suppose...

Hi Steve, i'm also looking at a car in Los Angeles area. Any advice from that area?
-
Not until I get some more specifics on location and actual vehicle make and model.
There are different possibilities for say a Mincomtesse or Peel than for an Isetta or Minicooper.
Send me a private message if you wish.
Jim- I admit being a bit baffled by the decision process regarding port of departure that I thought I heard you telling me.
What part did I get wrong?
