a new one on me , photo on ebay at present Paris, France 1946 ! nice
-
Beautiful car and great photo!
-
They are a lovely looking car and well known to enthusiasts, I cant believe you are not familiar with them Richard, they are in all the books.
-
Do they have a calender as well?
-
;D. Good question, which calender is used by micronauts, Julian, Gregorian or luna? I would guess Looney!
-
Gregorian for Gregoire drivers?
I must admit that I know very little about Julien. I know the name and have seen a couple of pictures, but certainly far less familiar to me than most others. Is the engine in the back? Two close set rear wheels? Any survivors?
-
Back to my books then Bob , but I don't recall such a good looking car . Might I suggest owners of rusty micros might not go for a calendar at all but a collander ! Get it ? Don't strain yourself

Also been covered in Rumcar news.
You may have to "sieve" through your back issues.
There was also one in the Weiner auction with quite a decent write up.

Try RCN96 (Spring 2008) the mystery car. Answers in RCN97. Jean

in all the books ? hardly Bob . Did find a bit in Kleinwagen International and this pic in my bible Georgano but not as nice a pic as the one I featured
-
Well there you are, its in all the books worth having. Klienwagon, Chris Reece, RCN. you wont find it in coffee table books.
-
I have two excellent Chris Rees books ( and it's Rees Bob , not Reece I get it wrong too ;) ) both from 1995 ! " Three Wheelers from Messerschmitt, Benz to Bond and beyond" , Also" Microcar Mania the definitive history of the small car" . For a long time these were the only English language books that I was aware of on our subject . In one of these the Julien gets a 2 line entry but no picture . If it's in his latest volume then he has since found more info . As you say I have several " coffee table books" where unsurprsingly it gets no mention . Kleinwagen International is unfortunately in German so I do struggle with the text .
-
It's not in Chris Rees's recent "Three Wheelers A-Z" ... but then, it's not a three wheeler!
-
Richard, sent you a PM with some PDF's.
-
Hmmm I always expected that Chris Rees latest book was a rehash on the old ones - it does appear so . A two line entry in the world list of micro's then - easily missed
-
I didnt buy the new book when it came out as I suspected the same but my sister-in-law bought it for me as a present and I was surprised. It is a good book packed with much more that the original one. Dont write it off until you have had a good look, you may find yourself buying a copy.
Yes, my apologies, I thought the Julien was featured in the Micromania book but as Richard says, its just listed in the back. For me it pops up all the time because of my interest in French microcars and of course its on the same page as Inter's in Klienwagon.
Still no excuse Richard for not knowing it though as you are one of our representatives responsible for registering rare microcars. Tisk tisk headmaster! Mike Shepherd would know a Julien at 100 paces! Where is Mike, he is very quite these days?

sticking with the Julien my Georgano lists
Julien (F) 1925-1926 G. Julien, Blois, Loire-et-Cher
The Julien was a minute single seater using a single-cylinder 2CV engine of under 200cc, and a two-speed gearbox
Juluien (F) 1946-49 Ste des Etudes Automobile M.A. Julien, Paris 16e
The post-war Julien was also a minicar, appearing at the same time as the Rovin, of which it was a rival. It used a 325cc single cylinder engine which drove the rear wheels by a single chain. An open two-seater was the only body style . In 1949 a new model with wider body was announced, but it did not go into production
