Thanks Stuart. I had tried one of them, will now try the others. Parts for these cars are horrendous! Us owners generally avoid buying from the official suppliers and try to find out what other cars used the same part which is often Citroen, had no joy identifying the filter case though, maybe I will put up a pic and see if anyone recognises it. To buy an oil filter from microcar £17.00, from the local car spares shop £4.50.

Dear Bob

Being a 5 star Hero Member and Global Moderator do you think you could do something about the problems in the middle east as Tony seems to be missing when needed.

Many thanks

Sorry to hear about your mishap with a Virgo (poor girl)

Dear Chiris. I will attempt to answer your question by telling a story. There once was a wealthy man walking along a beach, he stubbed his toe on something sticking out of the sand, it proved to be an old lamp. The man rubs the lamp and guess what, a genie popped out and says" I have been imprisoned in the lamp for a hundred years you have free me for which I will grant you a wish, what is your command?"  The man takes out a map of the middle east and pointing to the fertile crescent says "I would like you to sort out the problems in this part of the world, put and end to the warring etc." The Genie shrinks back and says" There has been trouble in this part of the world for hundreds of years , I cant help you with that one!, can I do something else for you?" The man thinks for a while then takes a photograph from his wallet and says " This is my wife, can you make her young and beautiful for me?"  After taking a look the genie pauses and replies  "errrrrrrr, lets have another look at that map!"   Boom Boom!! and thats the noise the virgo made apon bursting into flames!  As regards, Toni B, he only starts wars!

Dear Bob

Thank you for the apocryphal tale of the Genie (was that meant to be a reference to you?). Like most answers given by the Oracle at Delphi I am none the wiser, are you saying Yes or No to my request.

I suspect that your title of Global Moderator may be a little over stated and therefore your answer will be No?

Should you really be called the Grand Wizard Moderator (GWM), or the Rum Forum Inquisitor General (RFIG), or the Delete button controller (DBC) or perhaps Rumcar Ultimate Forum Facilitator (RUFF)

Any other suggestions

Dear Chris.  Apocryphal? I can assure you that the story's canonicity if beyond question! The man in the story is not me as I am not wealthy and my wife is still beautiful! The Genie? Well I guess that could represent me as I do have the ability to make Virgo's dissapear in a puff of smoke! So glad you have a knowledge of ancient history Chris, a subject close to my heart and I agree the Oracle at Delphi was all about interpretation, a little like the mutterings of Nostradamus really. I prefer the prophecies of Daniel ! About the title of "Global Moderator" , all I agreed to was to have the ability to take the spam off the site whilst Jim was sleeping across the Atlantic, I had no idea I was to be bestowed such an illustrious title, do I detect a hint of jealousy?  I rather like your "RUFF" suggestion. Its far more descriptive of me! I do love a little banter on the forum!   Bob          p.s. In answer to your original question, "No" , how about yourself??

This rather reminded me of a Pam Ayers poem:
They Should Have Asked My Husband (http://monologues.co.uk/Pam_Ayres/Ask_My_Husband.htm)

Loved the poem Andrew. I was unaware that Chris was married to Pam Ayers! Tee Hee! ;)

Dear Bob

I some times think I am married to Pam Ayres, when she takes a little foible and turns it into a half hour monologue, getting laughs at every exaggeration when reciting it yet again to an audience of femail friends.

But the Pam Ayres poem does remind me of my father.

Returning to your previous point. No I am not jealous of your new found status as global Moderator, or wish to relieve you of your duties, quite the contrary, I wish to make public the excellent work that you have taken on board on behalf of us all.

Also if you are a five star hero  member, what should Jean be? Ten star goddess of Microcars.  Suggestions please.

Actually Chris, the job is so far undemanding, no spam is getting through. About a title for Jean, If I am to be compared with the Oracle at Delphi then Jean must be the Artemis of Ephesus!   Going back to the post title, has anyone found me an airfilter housing? The Virgo is up and running again , there was some damage to the wiring loom which I reconstructed but the filter housing is now warped and letting in too much air giving rise to a weak mixture. If nothing turns up I'm thinking of replacing it with a K&N or Pipercross product.

Dear Stuart

Another 5 star Hero Member but you have yellow stars while Bob has blue stars.

I do not understand the name and star rating system, could somebody please explain.

Many thanks

Hi Rob. Thanks for the Link but I did register my wants with them on Saturday, so far no reply. You often see this part broken on Virgo's so they are probably in demand.

Chris, The stars relate to how many postings a member has left, my yellow stars turned blue at the moment of being lumbered, sorry I mean promoted to Global Moderator so I guess that mere mortal Hero members like Stuart have five yellow stars but moderators stars go blue no matter how many there have. I'm sure Jim can give yours a special colour to indicate 'official engine researcher status and modern micro test pilot' if you are feeling left out, what colour would you like? We had better say 'color' for Jim otherwise he wont understand.  ;)

oops, just noticed you havnt any yet, just keep on posting!

Dear Bob, Jim and Jean

Thank you for trying to help me understand the system.

I am more confused than ever now as Jean who is also a Global Moderator has five green/gold stars.

Am I right in thinking that the ranking is Newbie, Jr Member, Full Member, Senior Member and Hero Member. What comes after that, Super Hero Member?

What does the star rating denote - Ability to spell correctly?

I can see that the administrator, and Global moderator have a special significance and deserve special star colours.

Is it just me, or are others confused as well?

It appears that the star rating is not explained anywhere on the site as far as I can see, I can say that the rating does not indicate ability to spell but rather the amount of time members have to waste! I would have thought the stage that follows Hero member was obvious, its PEEL OWNER!!! :D

Dear Bob

As Global Moderator you have certainly worked hard today, and we have all leaned a lot in the process.

Should there be a corner of the site that explains all this, a bit like the hot topics indicator.

Many thanks Bob

There should be really, it may just be a matter of Jim pressing a button. I will ask him.
Going back to the Virgo air filter, I just discovered that the paper filter AND the housing are inseperable and disposible! Yes you chuck the whole thing away and buy a new one for £40 plus! Madness! No wonder people are fitting Renault five pans on there cars.
Chris, how are you with identifying pre 1908 cars , I'm putting a couple of pics up on a new thread. Any ideas?
