Title: The London to Brighton run.
Post by: Bob Purton on October 22, 2009, 01:58:40 PM
Hi all. I'm going to watch the old crocks parade past at Redhill on Sunday nov 1st. Its an annual thing for some MOC members and others. Anyone interested in joining me? I'm told the microcars assemble opposite the petrol station just outside Redhill from about 9am.

Dear Bob

I have never missed this event, but sadly I will this year as I will be in India. I always go to Redhill and stand up at the traffic light at the top of the hill from where Malcolm Thomas and the other Messerscmitt owners collect opposite the Shell garage on the road south out of Redhill.

If you get a chance walk up to the traffic lights as this is where some of the cars start to struggle and passengers spill out to lighten the load. There is also a marshall with a long white beard who tries to direct draffic on the hill and always screws things up, great fun to watch.

It is a great event and of course totaly free.

It is always good to see the the microcars represented.Lets hope it is a sunny morning.

Have fun

Chris Thomas

Thanks for the tip Chris. I usually miss it on account of it clashing with the Scientific Instrument fair in London but this year for the first time it falls on the Sunday after. Whats happening in India?

Dear Bob

The Memsaharb and I are travelling to Calcutta to attend a Hindu wedding and then up to Darjeling for a cup of tea, and finishing in Delhi before flying home. I hope to get lots of photo's  of Tuk-Tuks and what ever strange transport i can find. As yet I have not managed to trace a car museum on route. But that would not be the first time.

Just behind the Shell Garage in Redhill ( in the one way street) is a little garage that services Relients and has in the past sold Ligier Microcars.

Have fun in Redhill.

Ooh you fair-weathered lot! As I always used to say during my banger racing days & at last years National, "It's more fun in the wet!"  ;D  A load of veteran cars slipping & sliding about trying to get up that hill in Redhill in wet conditions sounds like good viewing to me, where's the train timetable for redhill......

Stuart, Dont talk to me about banger racing or any other racing, I'm nursing a very bruised rib cage after someone shunted me whilst Kart racing yesturday! As far as Redhill is concerned I'm not saying I wont be there, just wont be risking my neck in the messerschmitt on the M25 with a Micky Mouse windscreen wiper during a heavy downfall. I may see you there then Stu?
