Have you seen these pictures before?

No! I will await the eventual answer once everyone has had a go.

I've seen the bottom one before, but not the other!

Hi,
The second one is an artwork of the three wheeler designed by André Morin, the "triporteur Morin". Mr Morin has only build one (he's still alive, he said it to my father and i) and we have it in our collection. Interesting thhree wheeler based on the french Scootavia scooter, build by Mr Morin too.
I never saw an exemple of the vehicule shown in the first picture. What is it ?

The upper one has some bodywork missing. They were built to train pilots and navigators back in the 1940's, navigation using dead reconing. I think they were based on BSA bantem bikes.
The missing bodywork enclosed the rider with only a very narrow slot out through wich he could see, so he had to navigate a route around a course using direction and distance measurements.

What great pictures, I love oddities!
My Dad was a Navigator in the Fleet Air Arm, training to go into active service during the Vera Lynn War; while in the docks waiting for the aircraft carrier to take him out to the Pacific, the Atom bombs were dropped on Japan and he was de-mobbed 3 days later. His most regular pilot was Laurence Olivier). He flew in quite a variety of planes including Fairey Swordfish, Albacores and Baracudas. He has some amazing stories of his times in FAA.
I will ask him if he recalls the BSA Navi-Trikes when I see him soon. Sadly a bad stroke and the most dangerous strain of Malaria has left him with a somewhat random memory so that when asked directly about something there is no memory, but if he sees something completely unrelated it sometimes jogs a lost memory. Pictures do sometimes get a response where words don't so I will show it to him. It is so nice when something does trigger his memory, so thanks for posting those pics!

The top one appeared at the Griffith Park Sidecar Rally in Los Angeles in 2006 where it was described as an "Antique French 3-wheeled trike". Here's another pic.

Cheers Mr Chrome!

Bob, a few years back my business partner's son got married in the oldest house in Dallas, about 120 years old if I recall correctly. Some there were talking about this lovely ancient building, but I could not resist mentioning that part of my Dad's old house was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086!

We are back to the Mini Comtesse which is a 5 wheeled trike! Two of the wheels are not in permanent contact with the ground. Also a 4 wheeled motorcycle being the BMW based Swizz egg jobbie for the same reason. In both cases one wheel remains out of touch with the ground at all times. So how many wheels have they?

Dallas is in Texas isn't it. I refer you to previous comment.

A child's bicycle with stabilisers is still a bicycle, not a quadricycle, so I reckon a Mini Comtesse is a tricycle* with stabilisers. Now the authorities might not classify it as such, because buffle-headed bureaucratic dandiprats all over the world seem immune to Logic and Common Sense, but to me Stabilisers are not "normally" in contact with the road, and are therefore not "road" wheels. Plenty of vehicles are prevented from turning turtle by their own body work, if projecting bodywork on a MC or Peel happens to have a rotating component so much the better!
* OK, a THREE-WHEELED Tricycle, just to be clear!

But what would this 4 wheeler schmitt be? Its not a TG500, its a modified KR200 my dad built (all mechanical parts were original TG though)

about the green trike, it looks like a TM Peugeot triporteur , or Monet-Goyon triporteur , modified for invalid owner .. probably only one made ..

I thought that, what flumoxed me was the drive chain being on the wrong side. Could it be FN?
