Title: Carb boring
Post by: Bob Purton on June 27, 2013, 09:50:52 AM
Does anyone know anything about carb boring? My Bing is very worn and I can buy a 0.3 mm oversize slide for it but dont really know if the carb would have to be bored for this to go in. Maybe the.3mm extra od will just drop in and take up the slack I dont know. Surely carbs wear out oval?. Anyone have any experience of this?

My Bing-aling. My Bing-aling. I want you to play with my Bing-aling.

No.

But the design of the cable attachment and direction of the cable will tend to promote an oval wear pattern the more offset they are. Then you have the problem of finding the center to machine it straight again and to grip pretty weak metal. That said the much missed Brian Perry used to line bore out the venturi to sizes asked.
