I know the Frisky name is usually associated with Giovanni Michelotti, but I was surprised when the chap from the Potton historical society at the Hammond open day showed me this picture by how much the front resembled the Frisky Sprint and the scallops on the side Brutsch's V2-N. For those that might be interested it's a styling exercise by Bertone that appeared at the 1957 Turin Show, the Fiat Stanguellini 1200 spider.

Most of the best products in the world are an accumulation of other peoples ideas.
-
Most? I think they all are.
-
Damn, you just stole my idea!
-
There was also an Aston Martin (DB2 /4 ?) which was styled by Bertone or Scagliati which looked remarkably similar to that Fiat, but obviously bigger and more powerful.
-
Just for the record, Whilst Giovanni Michelotti styled the Gull Wing Frisky and had a hand in the FriskySport he had nothing to do with the Frisky Sprint (Nor its Australian cousin the Lightburn Zeta Sports)
It does look very similar but even Gordon Bedson had to get his inspirations from somewhere!!

The 1956 Corvette came out with nearly identical side scalloping.
Can anyone else post a pic please? :)
-
Of what ?
-
The 56 Corvette copied the side scallops from a Cadillac show car.

Pic of 56 Corvette & Bertone's DB2/4

Scanner still playing up but have you got a Bruetsch/Brutsch V2 for us Malcolm - thanks
-
This advertising leaflet looks more like the Bertone car that Brutsch's end product
-
Here's the V2N as Brütsch produced it and the Jet version produced for the Paris motor show

Hmm, I wonder when this fashion will be rediscovered and repackaged by one of these, oh so clever, modern stylists. But who thought of it first.
-
Mr. Merkelt ? ;)
-
Yes definitely Mr Merkelt in the 1940's. ;D
Now I have made contact with Dave Carter who worked making Tourette chassis in the Carr bros factory all sorts of snippets of info are coming to light Richard. I even have a description of Mr Merkelts appearance, he wore big thick lensed spectacles. Maybe that's why the Tourette is so rounded in shape! Dave was taken out in the car to act as ballast whilst the prototype was being put through its paces. Just to add to all the windscreen intrigue, the prototype sported a pair of Brooklands style aero screens!

Mike Hawthorn would not have anything else.

The Farnham Flyer always raced with an Aeroscreen rather than a rap around screen. If its good enough for him then its good enough for Bob as its in period, too.
