Flippers and robadob.
« on: July 13, 2006, 01:42:40 pm »
Hello All,
Just a note to say I've changed my Log-in name.
Oh, and if you visit Jean's Open Day at the Farm on Sunday 30th. July, you can see together. three different Flippers made by SEAB in France.(believed to be only 4 in UK) along with the great collection belonging to Jean.
Be there, bring your micro/bubblecar.
Bob D. ;D

Nice one Bob, at Jean's Open Day if indeed both your Flippers are there, I stand to be able to say that I've seen and got photos of all four Flippers in the UK! I saw Alan Hitchcock's Flipper II in his shed about 18 mounths ago, and at the last Open Day I saw your Donkey and Jean's Mk 1, so that's only your Mk II to go for the full set.... :o

Bonjour Denis,
Welcome to the Rumcars Forum.
I thank you for the Saxonette engine details by email. The Flipper I is running well now. I am taking All the Flippers to Jean's Farm on Wednesday to be ready for the Friend's Open Day on Sunday 30th July.
I am hoping to have the Donky registered to drive on the roads of UK soon.
I will send you photographs of the three Flippers together.
You have a very good Website.
Best Wishes.
Bob. ;D

Hi Bob D. Thanks for the ride the other sunday. I ment to ask you a question about the flipper but didnt get the chance. On the rear axle I noticed a sprocket and a short piece of chain with two cables attached, what on earth is it for? Ive been racking my brains but cant figure it out, go on , put me out of my misery!  Bob P.

Hi Bob P.
This short chain was normaly attached to one or two pedals.
So it was possible to the driver to push on them like a bicycle to go forward.
That thing was an obligation for each without licence car in the 70's to be considered like a moped '' cyclomoteur'' and used without any paper and permit.
So, few solutions has been found by the builter, always very... special.
But anyway, these cars are very special, that is why we love them, isn't?
For remember : some of these cars will be at the french meeting at Laignes the 20 of august.
Regards.

HI Bob P.
Denis gave you the answer before I could. The extra pedal is only fitted to Jean's Flipper I and my Flipper II. The Donky isn't so I suppose It can't be a "four wheeled moped".  Bob D.  ;D
