Peel P50 acquisition; Breaking newsflash from the ICR
« on: December 12, 2008, 10:29:08 PM »
No not me, (Alas) but Bruce Weiner. Eleven years on from "the auction" Bruce has acquired another Peel P50. OK you might say, tis there to be seen on his website, but the ICR can go one better than the website, becuse it has known for quite a while eaxcly WHICH P50 it is.  RUM Car News 99 is out any day now, where the details will apparently be confirmed, so I am now at liberty to show off about the extent of the ICR's spy network ;D (not just invalid carriages you know) by revealing that this P50's idenity is belived to be (fanfare) ARX 37B. Am I right?, lets see in a few days time.....    ;)

That a genuine Peel P50 has been aquired by Mr Weiner..   There is no new thing under the sun.

At least Stuart can actually genuinely state that a bonefide Peel has gone overseas!  Sadly.

Oh well thats one record I will be able to keep straight even it neither of the owners past or present can be bothered to tell me themselves!  It makes llife very difficult to keep the records straight.  It would seem there is some doubt about R430 the Suzuki Fronte registration number  WGP 954M which I understood was sold at the Bubble Car Auction. Can anyone who was there confirm this for me please?

I had a look at the auction lots list and the only Suzuki listed and sold was:

SUZUKI SC100GX, 1982, TCX 862X, V5 present, no MOT, dry storage for many years after extensive restoration inc. engine re-build. £300-500.     Sold for £500.

That's a genuine chassis plate. Could have screwed it on though?!

To quote..

But even a REPLICA of this car costs $20,000 USD (2008 prices), so you can just imagine what the price of a REAL P50 would be if one were to become available for purchase.

Is that why it appears to be chained to the museum?!

Looking at B.Ws stats he says the P50 does 75km/h - 46.6mph.  Maybe down a 10% hill as I did in 1976.  Tony Marshall followed me at only a top speed of 64.4km/h - 40mph on the flat one day in that hot summer when a bunch of bubblers came to see my collection.
Price of a real P50 in 1976 was £45 unrestored. £250 running and on the road.  What was it 3 years ago?  £10,000 and £25,000.
Hang on while I go and have a good cry! :'(

GUESS WHAT EVERYONE,  I've just discovered a time portal in the back of my wardrobe which seems to pop out at 1976!   :o   e'are Bob, here's £300 including a fiver for yourself. I'll have the pair of 'em....

Or is it just the reflection in that Model 70 windscreen I keep in the back of the wardrobe that's giving that effect?....  ???

If I'd realised the magic properties of that Model 70 windscreen I'd have hung on to it!

Just imagine being able to go back and bring a brand new Mobylette AV89 into 2009.

I can dream, can't I?
