Technical definitions

For the most part nothing to do with microcars, but as its a long Bank Holiday weekend coming up, I thought I might kickstart a bit of lunacy, inspired by some definitions found elsewhere on this forum. All utterly pointless but amusing...

"Ripe for Restoration" means you've stripped the car & lost most of the bits.

"Under Restoration" means you're trying to find the bits again.

"Restored" means you've given up trying to find those bits and bodged it up out of anything which came to hand.

"Patina" means everything's utterly worn out.

Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.

Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.

Horsepower: how fast you hit said wall.

Torque: how far you take said wall with you.

   ;D

Body fair: No metal remaining below filler

Body good: Body is not really good. It's useable, not more. All major holes were filled with glasfibre and then filled with bondo.

Solid as a rock: Everything rusted together.

Burns no oil: Just leaks like a sieve.

Drive it anywhere: Within a few miles of your home, during daylight hours when it is not too cold (or too hot) and when it you don't need wipers.

Desirable Classic: Nobody likes it.

Rare Classic: Nobody liked it when it was new.

Restored: Fixed up.

Completely restored: Fixed so that it can be sold.

99% complete: Most important 1% is missing and unobtainable.

95% restored: and about 90% to go.

Good shape: Just some hidden damage to the frame.

No time to restore: Parts nonexistent

You finish: there is no light at the end of this tunnel.

Parts Car: All useable parts have long be stripped off.

Needs minor overhaul: Needs extensive work

Needs major overhaul: ready for the scrapyard

Call any time: It's hard to sell it.

Good Investment: Value has hit rock bottom.

My favorite quote ever:

When you buy a used car, you take up from where somebody else gave up''.
