as most will know the formula 1 tv commentator murray walker had a very famous father, Graham . firstly he was a top motorcycle racer, commentator and journalist . he was also the post-war editor of Motorcycling Magazine.
In the March 3rd 1949 edition they carried a roadtest of the first of the new generation of threewheeler The Bond Minicar   ( pre schmitt, isetta Heinkel etc. ) this was his editorial right at the start of it all -

Ah, those were the days when Muttering Rotters* had brains, judgement, and an ability to see the relative virtues of ALL types of transport, not just the Fast and Fashionable ones which their contemporaries are endlessly obsessed with.

Bring back Alan Henry, John Bolster, Jenks etc. They knew how to report on a supercar or a mangolwurzel with a sidecar. All in delightful English prose with added facts.  You learned without realizing it was happening. So much better than the garbage spouted forth from the compost heap of new Universities in most places now. Perhaps I should know, but I am not trained!
