A Blarnick glider cockpit has more than a passing resemblance to a Messerschmitt car, though its mostly aluminum alloy.

Now you're going to call me a sceptic, but I think that photo has been 'faked' and that 'Schmittt isn't about to launch that glider into the air......

When I learnt to glide many decades ago, we would be towed into the air by a large American pick-up and one of the things that got you in trouble with the pick-up driver was pulling back on the stick at the top of the glider's climb to get the maximum height from the tow - a glider had enough lift that it could pick the back wheels of the pick-up off the ground, leaving the driver trying to control its direction using only the front wheels while the back wheels were being pulled around by the glider.  Pick-up drivers were grumpy folk. 

Picking the whole 'Schmitt off the ground on the tow wire is probably possible.

My son now does some gliding.

I think the Schmitt is shown just as a Tug, getting the glider back to the end of the runway?
