it is an easy resto,being alluminium there isnt going to be any serious rot.theres only a seat cushion and a hood to remake,and things like lights are easy enough to find,if it was in the uk i might have been tempted.

Where can I get some headlights for a Mk C ?  These are the ones we want for the Gordon.

The part I need first are the bowls that hold the lights onto the front. The bowl rim has to lay flat onto the bodywork so that the chrome rim is also flat to the body.

I have the very sad remains of a pair of original Bond headlights which I hope to restore to fit to my MkD family.  The headlight bowls are rotten but could be used as a pattern.  I briefly thought about making new ones by vacuum forming thin plastic sheet over a fibreglass/wood pattern.  Before I even progressed this far I quickly realised that a very similar bowl is fitted to the Scootacar (wipac). When I compared the 2 the only difference is the Scootacar one has a raised lip for the headlight rim to locate in.  This can be simply removed with a thin slitting disc in the angle grinder and leaves a flat edge to but against the body work.
The headlights are not marked with a makers name but I suspect they are period Miller and would have originated from a motorcycle.  A new pair did surface at last years NMCR but sadly I was too late!
Stephen Boyd of the Scootacar register might have some bowls available or try Malcolm Leech (Wipac specialist) on 0121 559 7306.  I have bought some from him in the past.

 Thanks for the help. I already have a pair of Scootacar bowls c/o Stephen. I thought of cutting off the raised flange but then there would be nothing then to clip the reflecter and rim to. I have found that a BSA Bantam reflecter and rim fits OK. So, I think the Gordon will be graced with these. Only a purist will find fault, but then what is there to go by? Only the other five Gordon owners know the 'proper' lights on the car. Cars do have modifications made by the owners over the years when parts are unobtainable so I will have to stay with the Wipacs.

On the Bond the headlight unit (rim, reflector, glass and bulb holder) is held in place by two small 'L' shaped brackets which fit through two slots in the chrome rim.  These act as adjustors to line up the beam.  There is a third point on the top of the rim where a decorative chromed 'peak' is used to hold the unit in place.  The bowl is held in place by 2 mushroom head set screws.
I think the Gordon has the same means of holding the headlight unit in place.  Are there any traces of 3 small holes around the headlight holes on the front panel?
BSA Bantem (Wipac) headlights are used on the Scootacar so will fit nicely in the metal bowls.
Most Bond MkC/Ds are now fitted with the 'Scootacar' type bowls and Wipac headlights as they originals are just impossible to find. A nice compromise would be to find the correct lenses which have a small clear circle in the middle and the rest of the glass is 'frosted'.

 That's an acurate description of the Raydot headlight fitted to my Argson Electric. Before you ask, no you can't have it for the Gordon!
