Other micros
« on: March 17, 2007, 01:49:15 am »
Im watching this forum a couple of month now. We are all talking about Peels, french micros etc.
I do really wonder nobody is talking about all this other lovely micros- like the Bond minicars ,or Scootacars.
Does anybody fancy a lamar?
All these cars are worth to be mentioned.
For me, coming from Germany, the best microcars were built in the UK.
Beyond question the very  best is from germany ,and this is the beloved FMR TG 500

The best way to hear about all the other beautiful microcars is to subscribe to RUMCAR NEWS - we write about anothing else!

why yes!  I do fancy a LARMAR!

I love that car.   It is like a 2D car or something a child drew that became real or like a wooden toy car that was made into a full size version.

I know it was designed as an invalid vehicle, but I love the way it looks.
Someone in the UK restored one and wrote about it, I forget if I read about it in RUMCAR NEWS or if it was on the guy's website.

Hi Jim, thanks for your advice of the lamar side.  A couple of fantastic photos to be seen there.
I never saw one in original.
Cheers

Hi Jim, Yes it was in RUMCAR NEWS that you read about a Lamar restoration, but where else of course!  Way  back in 1984 Mike Hodgson acquired the vehicle from Neil Barber and that vehicle was indeed the very one in these shots  FMO 106.  It is number R196 on our Register and until now we had lost track of it.  As you know if sucessive owners don't inform us of change of ownership this is what happens.  Also it so often happens when an English car is sold abroad - people are ashamed of doing so or perhaps they don't like admitting that they got a far better price for it abroad.  I used to get cross seeing our "heritage" drifting overseas but now I feel that so long as the car is cherished and restored to its original specification as near as possible does it really matter.  It is a rare microcar that has been saved for posterity.  Of course I wish it was still in GB but its been preserved so please can you help me make contact with the new owner.  I am sure Tony would love to be able to write about him in RUMCAR NEWS.  I wonder how many more 'lost' cars have found there way your side of the pond, perhaps we can locate others that have changed hands

I don't mind if cars are exported, besides I wonder how many Messerschmitts and a like have been imported into the UK. I suppose it's only natural to be concerned if the vehicles in question are very rare.
