I agree Marcus. I had a modern photo put onto a mug and it frightens me every time I have a drink.

Here is a nice one for a sunny day though!

simple but effective but worth trying - dont just open the windows in the evening open the doors as well - great draught . and this one - open up the loft hatch for heat to rise further . i believe sleeping in wet sheets is also effective - perhaps Bob could let us know ?  ;D

When my parents lived in Baghdad they used he local method to keep cool: hang fabric sheets over the windows (outside) and have water trickling over them to keep the wet. The water evaporates in the sunshine and this causes heat to be pulled out of the rooms.

Easily said when they probably had a punkawalla , or the like , sitting up all night with a goatskin bucket  :)
