What is the situation for Goggomobils?
« on: December 28, 2014, 09:53:59 am »
I just wondered what the situation is with regard to the Goggomobil Register now we have grown used to and accepted that Mike O'Ballance has gone. Has someone taken over running that interest? I have self interest as I have two Goggos still. I am not sure that one will be done next year, as Schmitt, Bianchina and Borg take precedent. However the Dart project now looms nearer the top of the list. Renewed interest in things Goggo will begin when I sort out the spares. Bound to be bits missing or defective.

Dear Al

When Mike O'Balance took over from Maurice Rogers, he did not take responsibility for the register, that was passed back to Alastair.

As yet no person has come forward to be the Goggomobil champion, similarly nobody has come forward as the Peel champion. It seems most technical people are afraid of putting pen to paper.

Who, in your experience, knows more than any others about Goggo's and Peels? and is interested in writing about it in English?

I hope that has been of some comfort to you Al.

Interesting.

Peels, well that has become a bit pervy, hasn't it? Page three stuff.

However I started the Goggo Register, prior to it going to Mr Bunker. I make no claim to know more than anyone else, but I could take it back on again. They represent a usable microcar for everyday, and one that can cover mileage, and rough work. As such they need not sit idle as collectors cars, and they last better in use. It is to Goggos and Messerschmitts I am specialising, as I reduce microcars held. For me they are in the top rank of the classic Microcars. Both have faults, but as a package they outperform the opposition with some ease. The Fiats are coming in, but strangely despite being in all ways Microcars, never really featured as such.

If the least is a page of Goggossip then I might be able to provide it.
