New World's Smallest Car? BBC news 24
« on: May 09, 2009, 08:05:46 AM »
BBC news today had film of A man called Perry and his new "world's smallest car". It's a Postman Pat van children's ride mounted on a quad bike chassis. Great fun, catch it again on news 24

This clip can be seen at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8041425.stm though it's quite possible that anyone outside Britain can't access it.

How come he took off the Postman Pat colours?  Copyright infringement?

I agree Andrew, I much preferred the red, much funnier and nicer, the loud "Custom Car" paint job disguised the Postman Pat-ness. If he kept it as a PP van he could start a door-to-door Tunnocks delivery service

Dear Marcus and Andrew

I think we should invite him to our little event in July. Does anybody fancy doing some detective work and finding out his email so we can send him an invite?

Oh, that's Perry Watkins! I don't know him personally, but I do know quite a bit OF him. He's quite famous in custom circles for "Impressed", the world's lowest Hillman Imp, & for a time the world's lowest car til Andy Saunders came along....

Take a look at this webstie of his, should be enough there to be able to make contact with him.....

never mind, changed browsers and got to see the whole thing.

nice!   although the Guiness Record is not for the smallest car, but for the smallest *production* car I believe.
still, impressive and lots of fun to watch!

I was thinking that too, and I am pretty sure it does have to be in production or offered for sale to qualify. Glad you managed to see it.

Dear Stuart

I have contacted Perry Watkins and he will be away on holiday when the Celebration Weekend will be on so is unable to come.

He was a little afraid that the Peel brigade would string him up if had come, so I reasured him they would only do that if he had taken a peel, chopped the body and stuck a V8 under the bonnet. I hope that has encouraged him to register his vehicle with us.

Hello all,
Perry here, owner of the "Wind up!" car. Shame i can't come along to your event, maybe next year! Perhaps someone would let me know where and when?
Wind Up has been officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the world's smallest roadworthy car.
The Peel P50 still retains it's record as the smallest production car.
Cheers
Perry
