Microcar sales brochures on EBay......
« on: August 21, 2009, 11:45:50 pm »
Quite a few nice Microcar sales brochures like the one below on EBay at the moment from the same seller. I could afford one or two of the brochures but doubtful if I could ever afford the cars to match!

Dear Les

Well spotted!

If you look at all 13 pages of listings full of old photographs and literature, there is an amazing collection of microcar literature. I do agree with you that the prices are very high, but that means that if it sells at that price it is collectable.

Hi Les
I believe these items you spotted are from Rusty Holdsworth collection - which he offered to me about 18 months ago - he then said he was to sell them to a dealer - They are priced up too highly for me to collect, but I am thinning down my collection and have over 300 microcar brochures photos and articles to sell - more next year!!

I had a stall at the Rumcar Celebration weekend at Jean Hammond's house, but unfortunately I was not allowed to unload my van on Sunday Morning - because it was not a "Microcar" ( by Top Bannana ) there fore I had only a skeletal autojumble to offer - I did close up twice to go to the van to get articles people had requested, but some people complained that I was shut - sorry.

I shall take all of my Brochures to the National Rally - most are quite cheap as I only add 10% to what I paid for the brochure so Isetta brochures start at £10 and Messerschmitt start st £18 - I have a lot of unusual Microcar Brochures.
                                                                                                                                                   Mike

Hi All ,
I do not remember ANYONE apart from Mike & the few spanners & bits I bought along ,  selling anything remotely connected to  Brochures  or Bubble Jumble .Did anyone  else book a stall for micro/bubble  jumble ?
Naturally that  does not include Jeans stall . It was the Rumcars SPECIAL WEEK END after all.
Certainly all the other similar events  I have attended allow you to off load & park by your stall , purely from a security angle .
It simply stops items being taken while you are away . I'm sure similar events bare security in mind .. food for thought .
I dare say that problem wont occur again .
Whens the next one ?? PLEASE
                                            Jackie

Dear Mike

Just to put the record straight

Setting up time on Sunday morning was 9.00 to 10.00 and after 10.00 only Microcars were supposed to enter the site. Also where your stall was was a main walkway through to the Bubble shed so vehicles were to be kept clear. There were plenty of marshalls about to help if you wanted to wheel or carry stock to your stall. My concern was pedestrian access and safety once the event had started.

Having said that while I was up in the display field somebody let in an old Minerva or some such 1930's thing and parked it in front of your stall and drifted off around the event. If I had had my way they would have been parked where we were going to have the Bubble Jumble. And the same goes for the Allard that sneaked in too.

I hope you manage to sell some of your Brochures at the national.

Chris Thomas (over ripe banana)

As far as I was concerned the farm and the display field should only have had Microcars.

Hi Insight, Jackie and Bob
Thanks for your reply - I got my CA Bedford to the event at 9.30 - when I was told by Insight NOT to go onto the field but to park my van next to all the other car in the camping field - you were approached again around 10 ish to ask you once again if I could park my van in the Autojumble spot, this time I was supported by Steve Bayliss ( another Marshall) and still you said that my van had to stay where it was - I gave up and Jackie Lane had to ask you, for permission to load up at the end of the day.

I presumed I was the only Autojumble stand there - but there may have been others that were not allowed to unload - I've still yet to find the rule that you quote saying unload BETWEEN 9 - 10 on Sunday morning - perhaps I ought to look for a Tempo 3 wheel truck, or not take another autojumble stand at the Rumcar event!!

I did take my full Autojumble to the East Anglian Microcar Event - parked NEXT TO MY STALL, and did sell my Isetta engine and a few brochures.

The Rumcar Weekend is the only Autojumble that I've attended in the last 35 years where I have not been allowed to unload - If it is a mistake on your part admit it - not make up rules that I have complies with.
                                                                                                                                                                                         Mike

I may be mistaken but I think the vintage car and the Allard belonged to personal friends of Jeans and family, I didnt know about the Vintage car until I saw it later in the day but me and micromarshal waved the Allard into the display field, seeing no harm  what so ever? Marshals should be allowed a little discretion and what a cracking car the allard was! It was just the one none micro if you discount all the nonmicro three wheelers that were all ready on the list. Anyway , lets not let retrospective squabbles spoil our memories of a truly lovely weekend! These things are a learning curve, rules are necessary but so is a measure of flexibility. Chris did a sterling job and I thank him for it, I'm sure that if a second event was ever to be arranged these grievances could be ironed out quite easily. Roll on the next one! :)

Hi Bob
I had a smashing time too - that is why I did what Top Banana said - I swapped a lot of Brochures with Jan DeLang and sold a few odds and end's too - Chris was under a lot of pressure and I Liked the Delage and Allard too - no grumbles there, we ought too have a section for other vintage cars we all like to see the other enthusiasts have in their garages unrestored or not - I looking forward to net years event !!!!
                                                                                                                                                  Mike

Dear Mike

I appologise for any misunderstanding. .

I  like to think that during the event I was approachable and flexible.

If ever we do this again, we will all have leart something, and done things slightly differently, including myself. That is life

As Bob has reminded us, we should remember the weekend for all the enjoyment it brought.

Have fun.

Chris Thomas
