Is it me, or is this schmitt different?

Hello,

  Just came across this picture. Looks quite normal, but the wongs and the dome seem different to me... I guess I don't know enough about them, but the dome looks like it was badly cut, so it's too high, and the wing looks like it was put on at the wrong angle...

The wongs (!) seem to have shallower wheel cut-outs and the top of the dome seems to be horizontal rather than getting slightly higher towards the rear? At first I thought it was an old photo, but a second look and the quality of tones looks more like a modern camera set to B&W.

If it IS an old photo, I would be interested to know if the wongs and dome are from different tooling (an interime design?).
If it is a new photo, then perhaps the car has been restored with repro parts which are not quite right; the wongs might have been recreated with a wheeling/rolling machine, but not got quite right.

Definitely slightly unusual.

I would say wrong bumper bar, trailing wing trim, indicator wrong angle, no mirrors and the back end looks slightly oddified. Is it in fact a real car or an image transfer or a sexed up Tri Tech with KR200 bits in Japan?

Oh yes, nothing better than a pedant getting hoist by his own petard!    Wongs just sounds so funny I had to remark on it!

Of course, my excuse is that my keyboard is old and covered in workshop grime so I have to thump down so hard on some lotters that I simetomes hot the wring won, oar even do a dubble hitt!

I think Jonathan is right about the dome being too high, they come with the sides oversized, the owner didn't trim enough off before fitting. The wings look alright to me, I think its the trim on the rear edge that's skew whiff, it curves the wrong way, ignore that and follow the line below and its about right. Anyway, I'm off to see my Chinese dentist, I have a tooth hurty appointment!

Wings are wrong cutted, or completely made of glas fibre. Dome does look to much round bodied to me. Weird car anyway. Yes of course, it seems to be a complete replica !

I've changed my mind, I agree with Ferdi! The wheel cut away is the wrong shape and I just compared the dome height to my old schmitt and its about the same. I think I succumbed to the power of suggestion when I looked at it at gone midnight last night! I cant see why it would have to be a replica though although it could be, could it not just be a schmitt with some badly made wings fitted?

How about a kit superimposed infront of the building. Without the ability to maniplulate the picture I would say the inconsistincies suggest it is not a base KR200 by FMR. Exhaust looks tiny. Also airfilter hole might appear a bit low, need to have clear view of my Schmitt outside in the snow.

Having just been out and studied my schmitt, I would say that the dome is roughly about right but the wings are not quite right... they seem a bit high where the join the main body as there is not much of what i call "the kick plate" showing. The wing cut outs are also slightly shallow and the trim on the back of them looks like its been fastened on after too many vodkas!!!!
