Hi John,
You should be very proud of your dad and your self for showing such resolve and focused accomplishments at such an early age.
Don't let any one less accomplished deter you from your aspirations.
Yes I spent a few months getting my Nobel to be all of one piece about a year ago. The doors were falling off due to being fractured at their mounting and fixing points and the interior to the door hinge plates resembling artifacts drug up from the Titanic. I made new ones of aluminum plate, and secured them with proper metric stainless steel bevel headed screws afrer having to use an extreme amount of time and precision drilling out and not so "easy (ing) out" the original screws so as to not damage the outer hinge plate faces.
Have you found a source of strike plates and rubber door bumper guides?
The floorboard was decayed around its edges and loose. Also the entire rear parcel tray and firewalls had become detached from the body shell and were falling away.
I have done a good job at fixing these problems as well as renewing the front suspension and only halfway correcting the negative excessive wheel camber on one front wheel as there is no provision provided for even getting it half way to right. I got mine halfway there by reversing the spring orientation and using over strong undersized bolts to displace the hub carrier on one side.
Never did get a proper replacement for the worn needle and jet for the carburettor, know how to restore/ recreate a neutral cable, or touch the interior or body yet.
I'll get in touch with Mike to ensure I get a new rear window post haste. Please let him know of my intentions if you are in touch also.
Temporarily short on funds due to my purchase last week of an original red and white one that I haven't arranged to be trucked the 3,000 miles to my home yet.
More details on that after it arrives!
Interesting picture of you when you were presumedly quite smaller. Is that a Frisky sprint alongside of you? I'd be interested to know the story of how you got in the picture, and what became of it.
