Mystery Machine?
« on: March 02, 2014, 09:43:21 AM »
Having watched this all week, I wondered if anyone else had worked out what it was? Figured one of our European compatriots might have been on to it, so didn't want to rock the boat by posting it until the auction end.

Looks a little Fulda from the front, windscreen and such.  So what was it?

It's certainly intriguing. A postwar continuation of the  Zundapp "Volksauto" perhaps. Aspects of the bodywork look a bit crude like the unprotected shaft drive along the floor and the rear window arrangement - although I assume this is to utilise available glass. Looks a bit like the Pinguin, but the aerodynamics are too crude.

That looks quite a reasonable effort. Some of those gearboxes from the sidecars had reverse so making a good choice for a car.

My first thought was Mathis but like you say Malcolm it's too crude.  Funnily enough just as I was Googling Pinguin (because I'd forgotten what it looked like) I came across this site: http://www.stilltimecollection.co.uk/search/q/24-0-0-0-0-0-1-1-microcar.html

.... some lovely period shots of micros, maybe you guys are aware of it, maybe not. A whole mixture of micros & cycle cars, there's a nice little Frisky Sport section too and some real oddities.

Yeah, figured that may be so, I've been out of the loop too long.  :(
