The kR-175, low milage original condition car at Mannheim last year, only had an asking price of 14k and looked better than this one.

From one extreme to another, check this out, it has to be a SCAM??? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/meausersmit-spares-repairs-restore-3-WHEELER_W0QQitemZ180340182043QQihZ008QQcategoryZ2192QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I would have to say yes, unless the person is absolutely clueless.

"early measure smitt."

I haven't heard that one before.

also- the very bad english suggests someone from Eastern Europe, they are hoping for a sucker to send them a few thousand pounds for a car whose photo they just grabbed off the internet someplace.

oh, looking at the seller's other listings, here is his tel number:  07811362311
someone should call him and see if this is real.  It is possible the guy's eBay account was hacked and he has some real items up and someone added the schmitt as a joke.  He might not even be aware it is listed.

of course I could be completely wrong and the guy is a marketing genius.

The second one states "left hand drive" - must be a very rare one!

I thought they were all Left Hand Drive?
When you drive a car in Germany, what hand do you use to shift?  Your right hand and you steer with your LEFT HAND (on a Left Hand Drive car).
Same with Messerschmitt, you shift with your right hand.

It would a Right Hand Drive one that is rare.  (shifter on the left)

Either that, or they've had a British education - I think the spelling is so consistently bad that it must be real!

The plot thickens… It’s fairly unlikely anyone could buy a restored Schmitt for a few grand these days and it’s damn near impossible to find three. That’s what the vendor is touting now?? I wonder if they finish on the 1st of April?

I see that it is ORIGINAL does that mean that it is originally turquoise and now it is white?

Dash and firewall are turquoise.

They have even painted the rear lights white.

It is on the DVLA web site but like lots of people cannot spell MESSERSCHMITT the DVLA included, as I have one with the spelling of MESSERSCH MITT (SPOT THE GAP) try MESSERSHMITT and the details come up and they are interesting.

That one clearly has Platinum plated headlamp rims, £1,500 each, and it's the rare German-American model !
