Manky Messerschmitt Of The Year, Hands Down Winner
« on: October 25, 2010, 10:41:00 PM »
From that place in Prauge with the overpriced BMW 600, I present, for your viewing plesure, this year's sure-fire winner of the Manky Messerchmitt Of The Year award. Cor blimey guv, it's 'orrible, but I love it.    Dig those rear tail fins....    :)   Would this win me the Grot award at the 2011 National I wonder?  8)

No, it is the right engine in the wrong car! I was wondering what it was too.

Ah, makes me go all misty-eyed for the former Eastern Bloc.  The power unit and rear lights are rather unpleasant, if necessary, but that replacement flat windscreen surround is a work of art - back then parts were completely unobtainable but skills readily available so this sort of craftmanship was everyday stuff.  My personal record was looking around a Ukrainian light metalwork shop and finding a stripped Lada body upside down and having rust repairs being done.  The record bit was that this shop was on the second floor of a building and it appeared the Lada had been craned in.  Now that's taking a 'home job' seriously.

Utter overpriced rubbish. Like all the junk on their website.

No bids on any of it on evilbay,

This Ferrari is £57k     ex USA and about £20k there.  Laughable and quite pathetic.

I thought the Eastern block was skint?!

I've just booked my ticket to go and get this quite remarkable Klassik.   The pile of junk is not worth its weight if you were to weigh it in for scrap!!!

"Just prepared for renovation". How do you prepare something for renovation?

Some thing is lost in the translation. Prepared = ready, ready for restoration make more sense.

Prepared for renovation means - as found, neglected, incorrect, meddled with, worn totally out bucket of canine excreta!

Thanks Bob, I thought this was probably the case but in this context the mistranslation probably serves as well as an introduction to the vendor's philosophy.

"Ripe for Restoration" means you've stripped the car & lost most of the bits.

"Under Restoration" means you're trying to find the bits again.

"Restored" means you've given up trying to find those bits and bodged it up out of anything which came to hand.

"Patina" means everything's utterly worn out.
