No Rob not a bit of it . The picture came up on Facebook of all places on a site for local photographs . The lady that posted it knew nothing other than that her dad was a keen amateur photographer , dark room etc. and he took photographs of anything and everything ! Haven't pinned the cafe down but it will be in the Birkenhead area near the Vernons factory

I think by the length of the name board, it's more likely something like 'The Village Cafe', don't know if that will help locating it unless you happen to have a Kellys Directory or similar for the period. Brilliant photo, what a find! Be great to know what colours they were.

Perhaps when I identify the position I will find that they were being returned to the works unsold or faulty . The NEW GORDON must date the photo as 1954 I guess , anything of interest in the detail ?

Well as Ways finally sold out to a developer I guess not but not sure , Vernons appears to have been demolished ,odd really as it was built in 1942 and what's there now looks very similar , it might just have a new frontage .( Will venture out as a passenger this weekend and see what we can find of the CafĂ© , still not driving /walking as foot muscles tender still and right NOW we are missing the Cheshire Micro Car Rally  :( ) This area was originally Cheshire until re-designated in 1970's boundary changes and became the new county of Merseyside

Also of note , in the ''good old days'' , you would go into the dealer and sign your life away for your new Bond , then you had the option of collecting it from the factory and on arrival was given full VIP treatment , factory tour , meal , diving tuition  .
This was deemed the best option as running in and fault's was sorted out .

In the earlier Raymond Ways / Bond C carrier photograph the driver can just be made out in his white overalls and peaked cap  . This other photograph shows the same getup  for collection of a another brand new Thames truck                 Having received a telling off  :) I make the point that these mentions of Raymond Way and his drivers are only relevant on this site in regard to their collection and delivery of British Microcars to the dealership where they were once sold by the score !  ;)
